The club is called Salusand soulsurfers and is a very small surfclub with only 25 members. Surfing is not a big sport in Sweden and the oceans around our shores is quite small. But you would be amaized of how great surf we have now and then and the surfers in Sweden are really friendly and so stoked. Surfing in Sweden is like surfing was in other countries in the sixties. New spots are explored and everybody is so friendly and helpful. We in Salusand soulsurfers love surfing and the aloha-spirit and Sweden is the perfect country for that.

This year Salusand soulsurfers is going to host the Swedish longboard championship. We organized it last year and it was a great succés with good swell, offshore winds and sunny skies. Surf contests in Sweden are not that common and I have a dream, and that is to do this contest the best contest ever in Swedens history and I want to do it to something special. I love longboarding and since Eddie Aikau is the most famous name in longboarding/surfing/alohaspirit in the world I came up with a great idea, and I want your help. We are planning to have a great opening cermony in true aloha spirit and it would be great to be able to read a text were you give the competition your blessing. I would like to ask you to write down a few words in an email and send it to me. In the opening cermony it would be so great to read your text as a thing to open the contest and give some aloha to everybody. Please take a look at last years Swedish longboard championship (the worlds most northernly surf championship) at youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izHZzUGoWyA
charitable fundraising event in conjunction with the Kamehameha Schools
Surfers Give-Back Club held on the school's Honolulu campus.

community and to promote surfing in a positive way by enabling their
student members to build strong relationships with community members
while encouraging environmental awareness & conservation.

participate, along with several other non-profit organizations such as
the Surfriders Foundation, AccessSurf Hawaii & the Duke Kahanamoku

The Surf Club encouraged the non-profit groups to sell any of their
products at the event to raise money for their organizations. They
also provided us with the tent and all equipment we needed for our
booth, helped us with the set-up, and provided lunch and water for our
volunteers.

This was a good public relations opportunity for the Foundation to
promote more awareness of our mission and goals. We set up a display
of photos from one of the Eddie Aikau Essay Awards Ceremonies and the
framed posters from the 4 essay contests. We talked to many people
that day about the Eddie Aikau Foundation.

We gave a $300 donation to the KS Surfer Give-Back club to support
their fundraising efforts for both charitable entities and we sold $70
worth of Foundation T-shirts at the event.

The KS Surf club raised a total of $1400 that day and 100% was donated to the two organizations listed above.

It traces the rich history of lifeguarding, going back to the legendary Duke Kahanamoku and Eddie Aikau, in this moving tribute to Hawaii’s "guardians of the sea." The team then jumps to modern day Pipeline, where highly skilled lifeguards protect surfers from the ocean's powerful swells.

Here is the movie link:
http://explore.org/explore/hawaii/films/150

PBS Special - May 12th & May 19th

Watch a PBS-KHET Special on Channel 10 - Broadcasting an interview with Clyde Aikau on Tuesday, May 12th and another special on Eddie Aikau on Tuesday, May 19th.

Part 1:
